Video Quetion

I have Windows Vista and a video file downloaded it's type is AVI Video clip
when I play it I hear the audio, but I get multicolored dancing lines across
the screen instead of the video. What am I doing wrong? Can i fix it??

Re: Video Quetion

AVI is just and audio and video container, the video and audio can be
encoded in many different ways within the AVI file, and you then need
to have an appropriate decoder (CODEC) installed on your PC.

You obviously have the audio codec as that is working, the question is what
video codec has been used? A utility called gspot can be used to identify
the video codec needed... http://www.headbands.com/gspot/index.htm

Alternatively you could just download and install the DivX codec
http://www.divx.com/ it is very widely used for video these days
in AVI files and the odds are that you may need it.

Re: Video Quetion

When installing the DivX codec, ONLY the codec should be installed. The other
parts of the download are not fully Vista compliant.
