Vista - Windows Media Centre and iTunes Library

Is there a way to link my itunes library to my music library on windows media
centre. I have my itunes songs stored on an external drive and would like
them to appear in my Windows Media Library (sheer laziness I know but it
would mean I could use the remote instead of getting up and using a mouse).
I have been into media centre and told it to watch my itunes folder on the j:
drive but no songs appear in Music section of Media Centre unless the CD is
in the PC.

Any ways around this or would it involve converting entire library??

I take it the music is in AAC and not a more common format like WMA or MP3?
