| | My Music Folder??? I stupidly tried to move the My Music folder today so that I could share the music with the other user accounts. The folder became unusable on the start menu and I couldn't open ITunes becuase it said that it could not find My Music. Anyway i went into the system registry after reading some previous topics and have restored the default User Shell Folder values. Now ITunes works but when I try and open My Music it just tells me that Access is denied as the location is not available. Can anyone shed any light on this? Cheers in advance |

| | Re: My Music Folder??? In Vista, the My Music, My Documents, etc. are no longer directories. These are junctions that point to the new default directories... Music, Documents, Pictures It's best to just leave them alone. | | Re: My Music Folder??? The question is how you're accessing the Music folder. As Dave said, the "My Music" icon that you see in your user profile folder is a junction point, and not a real folder. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "Beej71" <Beej71@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AC61CE6C-8C9A-48FD-BC83-2FBAB7C8F222@microsoft.com... | | Re: My Music Folder??? Fine, it's a junction point with changed functionality, etc. But how, as Beej71 asked, do you manage backup folders, specifically deselect the My Music folder in My Documents when Explorer won't let you see them? And the backup program can't see them? I'd like to separate my media and work file back ups to keep the size managable? | | Re: My Music Folder??? Sam, This is what Beej71 said: "when I try and open My Music it just tells me that Access is denied" So how is Beej71 accessing the My Music folder? Is he clicking on the junction point, or clicking the "Music" icon in the Start menu? Also, is the real "Music" folder accessible, and pointing to a valid location? Click Start, type "shell:my music" (Press ENTER). Does the Music folder open? -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "Sam Paules" <SamPaules@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A1C09A22-CBFF-44CB-9D49-7D0BC209D4FA@microsoft.com...
