| | Have lost Audio in Media Player 11 I got a new Dell computer about a week ago. It has Wndows Vista on it and came with Windows Media Player 11. 2 days ago I watched some videos and played a CD on the media player and it worked fine. Since then I have installed various software (which I had on my old computer) but I haven't used the media player since then.... Until today. The media player has no audio. Cds or videos play with no sound. My speakers are working. 2 things I didn't have on the old computer I installed today: Skype, and a Logitech webcam. I installed a new HP all in one printer too but I had an HP on the old one. Otherwise the software is what I used on the old computer. Can someone tell me where my media player audio went? |

| | Re: Have lost Audio in Media Player 11 Hello, My name is Richard; I am part of Dell's Online Community Outreach group. I read your post about Media Player not producing sound. You had mentioned that you had installed Skype. So, I was wondering it you have checked the audio controls, to see if the Wave setting had been muted. Go to basic Volume Control and look under Wave. Make sure that the mute box is not checked. This may seem like a simple solution, but I have seen this happen when other audio related applications have been installed. For some reason the volume will not be muted, but the Wave will be. I can’t be sure if this is the cause for what you experiencing, however it is worth looking into. Good luck. I found that not only had I lost Windows Media audio, I had lost all Windows audio too. The 2nd tech found that the default speaker setting had been changed during either the Skype or Webcam install. Everything is working fine again. Thanks |
