Re: media player cannot support MOV files

Generally you're going to be limited trying to use MOV outside of the
QuickTime world. It is generally going to be easier (but a headache) to
convert those first to a file type that other applications support.

There are other solutions, but they're kind of greyware at best, and as such
I wouldn't recommend them. A quick search on your favorite search engine
would likely find them though. =\

Re: media player cannot support MOV files

I've managed to do this successfully; firstly install a small piece of
software which you can download call Quicktime Alternative, then simply
rename the *.mov file to *.mpg in Windows, you should now be able to play the
file with Windows Media Player, if this all goes well dive into Windows Media
Centre where the file name and preview will show-up and it should play
normally!

Re: media player cannot support MOV files

That would be the greyware that I'm referring to. Renaming files to bogus
extensions is rather a bad idea, really, since the file association schemes
around the world generally key off of them. If a given file extension
doesn't work in the player by default, that indicates that the installed
plug-in did not register itself for use within Windows Media Player. That's
actually pretty easy to do and the appropriate plug-in vendor should do
that.
