Vista - connectivity problem Vista and camcorder

I have a Sony DCR-IP7E micromv camera and want to make a connection with my
Dell Inspiron 9400 notebook with a Windows Vista version by i-link. The
notebook does not recognize my camera. What to do?

I have a Sony Cam and a Dell 9300 and do not have this problem. Mine has to
be in VCR Mode to be recognized. This info should be covered in your Sony
manual.

Test the cam, cable and notebook with 3 other items which you know work, to
ensure that none of the items are faulty.

I'm not sure that once you get it recognised that you will be able to import
the mmv video, unless you are using Sony's programme that came with the cam.
