| | Media Player "black" bars! Hi! This is directed to the development/support team for Windows Media Player 11.x Windows Vista Ultimate Edition x64 Media Player 11 When viewing video material in the media player, in fullscreen mode the black bars surrounding a widescreen movie is not actually black... If I player the video in window mode, maximized or otherwise, the black bars surrounding the video is pure black, ie. RGB 0,0,0. However when you switch over to fullscreen mode the black bars "flash" and turn into RGB 16,16,16 which is very annoying. This makes the contrast levels of the movie contents seem off and it distracts the viever from the center of the screen, ie the movie material. I got the RGB values by taking screenshots when in windowed mode and in fullscreen mode, pasted them into PhotoShop and used the color picker. I would like for you to release a patch/fix/update for this issue as it's making WMP 11 more or less useless for viewing video contents in my opinion. I also did double check my settings for the "bar color" under the options menu and it is set to pure black, RGB 0,0,0. It might be a problem with my video card drivers but I highly doubt it. I am running an ASUS GeForce 8600 GTS 256 MB with the official x64 drivers for Vista from nVIDIA, version ForceWare Release 158 Version: 158.24 Release Date: June 1, 2007 WHQL Driver No other media player that I have tried showed this problem (ZoomPlayer v5.0 and VideoLan Media Player v0.8.6c). I'd really hate to have to use another player as I like WMP in every other aspect. Also while I am filling out this "report", I'd appreciate the option to run multiple instances of Media Player 11 as I often want to pause movies to play a song, or watch multiple videostreams at once in seperate windows. This cannot be done without stopping the movie or clearing the playlist etc. I wish for you to release a fix/update for this issue ASAP. Thanks in advance! You may contact me via email for futher information regarding the problem(s). / Chris ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
