for some reason i can't play mpegs on my computer i could on my old one

What type of MPEG, MPG-1 or MPG-2? The former runs with all kinds of
codecs, while MPG-2 requires a licensed encoder that only comes with
the home premium and ultimate version of windows. So you need a third
party decoder (codec) which comes with DVD players, burners, etc.. If
you have all that and still can't play them try GOM Player or XnView,
both support way more file types than Windows does natively.

i downloaded gom player i get sound but the screen is frozen any ideas
