Vista Tutorial - not getting thumbnails in Photo Gallery

I have one folder that won't display thumbnails. All others
display OK. The only thing different about these files is
that they came to me in a zipfile and I decompressed them
using Winrar. I can click on them and they will display but
no thumbnails. I've also tried moving them to the default
Picture folder and renaming them. It's like there's some
attribute missing that Photo gallery needs to identify them
as jpgs. Any ideas?

I'm also having problems with thumbnails in Photo Gallery, but with nearly
all my pictures. Most of the pictures were scanned on a computer running
Windows XP and then transferred to a laptop running Vista Business. The very
few thumbnails that display pictures in Photo Gallery are from pictures that
were e-mailed to me, downloaded from the Internet or modified with Photo
Story 3. I can open all the pictures and the slide show is great, but it's
frustrating not being able to see picture thumbnails. Ownership and
permissions are identical for pictures that display in thumbnails and those
that don't. Can anyone help?
