Windows opening bars of Music

Hi,

When windows starts up the few bars of music played are distorted.

The shut down music and all other music played are ok.

I have reset these to windows default but the problem continues .

How can I correct this please?

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

When you turn on you PC, it has to load up all of the processes yhat are
required to run the computer for you, and the CPU can only handle so many
processes at a time, the speed that these tasks are carried out depend on
many factors: ie. CPU speed, RAM memory, etc. I depends on where the sound
device is in the sequence of loading.
If your sound devices are not full operational before the tune is scheduled
to run, distortion, may occur.
It is the same, as you cannot browse the net, until the computer has made a
internet connection.
Without getting technical that is the explanation.
I assume you have no problems with you sound, once the PC is up and
running!!!!-

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

How do you remedy the problem, delete any unnecessary services at start up.
Just be careful which ones you delete if you decide to remove any, removing
a essential services could be fatal, or give you more undesirable results.

WARNING: If you do not know about services do not attempt to alter start up
procedure, delete the wrong service and serious problems may occur.

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

Hi Bob

Thank you for your prompt reply and for your explanation, as well as the two
suggestions as to how to proceed. I do not yet have the knowledge to play
with the start up programs although I am trying to learn. If I do a restore
point and then play with the start up services - can I experiment and then
restore if it fails? It presently takes one and three quarters minutes to
boot up to the log on stage which I believe is slow so this might also
benefit from tweaking. Other than "start up" the speed is fine.

Once again thanks for your help .

Regards

Geoff

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

Actually 90 sec start up is pretty good, I will gather some facts about start
services as I do not have then on hand, a send them on later.
Yes you can temporarily disable various ones, look for programs like itunes,
nero, etc. you will see some are user and some are system it is normally the
system one that you have to be very careful with, but some of them can be
disable if you know which ones.
Do you know how to access them thru Task Manager?
As i said I will get info and send!!!

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

This is one site to visit for info
http://www.tweakvista.com/article38662.aspx

If you type "services vista disable" into you web browser search (I use
Google) various sight will be shown select and browse and see which answers
you question the best. Some sights will give a detailed description of what
actions each service performs.
Naturally you do not disable any security, such as your anti virus or
firewall, etc.

RE: Windows opening bars of Music

Hi bob,

Tweaker was too scary - 10 levels above my competence.

Disable was excellent and I carefully restored - changed - checked.

Was unable to find where Application programs came into the boot process
)i-tunes etc) as perhaps there is a conflict with i-tunes or another program
loading as the same time as the windows music so still not cured yet.

Again thanks for your help

Geoff
