Choppy DVD Playback

I have just got a Sony laptop preinstalled with Windows Vista Premium. I
tried to play a DVD Movie using Media Center and once the opening sequences
have passed on the DVD and I have selected to play the movie, the movie
begins very choppy for the first few seconds and then goes fine.

I then tried it on Windows Media Player 11 and it played choppy throughout
(every few seconds) although another time I played the DVD in WMP and it
played okay.

I also have another DVD player called "InterVideo WinDVD for Vaio" and that
plays DVDs fine without any issues.

Can anyone help? Thanks
