Vista - Movie Maker an Vista

When I try to put a transition between 2 clips sometimes it works OK and
sometimes it causes the preview screen to go black and freeze the whole thing
so no matter what clip I click on nothing happens (on the same storyboard).
If I remove the transition in question everything goes back to how it was.
I've tried all different methods of copying/dragging etc the transition.
Seems no reason why some work OK and some don't using the same transition
each time. Driving me insane! Any ideas please? I have a relatively new HP
Pavilion Entertainment PC running Vista Home Premium.

I have similar problems as RosieToo describe:
- I put pictures in moviemaker, with effects and transitions; everything
works, and I save de project; sometimes when I open de project, the film
shows black screen in the clips with effects; I go to this clip, delete the
effect, and I put it again, and it works again!! I made a film with many
pictures, and I already have to do this for all pictures with effects!!
- I have another problem; I tried to publish the project in DVD, CD,
computer and the DVD maker notify me an unclassifeid error; I tried to
reduce the file size (clearly under 4Gb), and it´s impossible to publish the
project in every possible options!!

I lost hours and hours trying to fix these problems, and now I'm sick of
this!!
Anyone nows how to fix this?
I really want to work with a program that really works... I spent hours
doing a project to put it in the trash!

In Control Panel (Classic view) > Sound > Playback tab > highlight Speakers >
press Properties button > Levels tab,, have you checked the settings there?

If you are using file types which are not totally compatible with your
version of movie maker then this can happen.

What file types are you using?

What file type in specific are you referring to that should have been
rejected... ?

Well we all know your feelings on Movie Maker, but it doesn't help answer
peoples questions, which is what I'm trying to do, get them to understand
what's happening and why.
