Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

"one or more of the files that were added in windows movie maker could not be
decoded correctly. Verify that you have decoding software installed on your
computer that can decode the different files, and then try again."

This message pops up after I press "burn," and it is at 0.4%

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit OS and it's a laptop...

Please help me! I want me Anime!

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

There is a free program called GSpot (Google for it) that will analyze your
video clips and tell you what codecs you need.

Well, let's hope that it will solve your problem (or at least get you started in
the right direction).

Although, if you can successfully play back these file, it might not help. Or,
perhaps you will have to re-encode them to successfully burn them.

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

I can play the files on my laptop... I just can't burn them to a DVD... also
I have a codec for the files. I have the Combined Community Codec Pack.

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

Hmmm,

I have read in these newsgroups that that codec pack is pure evil.
That could be the source of your problems.

Oh really? It seems to play the videos correctly. I just really want to burn
them to a DVD... I don't know why it isn't working though...

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

Well, you could try to uninstall the codec pack and see if it helps.
But that codec pack should be avoided at all costs.
I would wager that that is the source of your problems.

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

Oh. O-O Well thank you... I have tried uninstalling it once actually... and
then I downloaded a package called ffdshow... it was REAL wonky, so I
un-installed it and re-did the CCCP... Is there a codec pack that you would
suggest/recommend?

Re: Windows DVD Maker rror message... what should I do?

All codec packs should be avoided. Codecs should be only downloaded and
installed from the codec manufacturer. If you have a problem, use GSpot and
then download and install THAT particular codec from the manufacturer.
