Vista - windows media player error HELP HELP HELP

i am using an hp pavillion dv6449us with windows vista, and windows media
player 11 has stopped working. whenver i try to open it i get this messge:

The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.6000.6324 where
11.0.6000.6336 was expected.
Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
Do you want to reinstall the Player from the Microsoft Web site?

I then proceed to the site only to find that the install is for WMP 11 for
XP. So i try it anyway, DOESNT WORK! Someone PLEASE help me because this
computer is about to go through the window . . . and onto the concrete 3
stories down!

Exact problem with me too. The

"Windows Media Player 11 is designed to work with all editions of Windows XP
Service Pack 2 (SP2), and can also be used to restore Windows Media Player
and related technologies to N and KN editions of Windows Vista." Some body
should know how to solve this problem.

U can see my question on page 2. named "window media". May be it could help
you. I posted it on 08/25/07. Wish you luck!

I've searched every site I can think of and it appears there won't be a
solution to our problem (and it appears there is a lot of us out there
experiencing WMP11 in vista not working at the moment) until microsoft
develop a patch to repair WMP11 in vista or release a version beyond
11.0.6000.6336. I've tried everything from reinstalling vista home premium
from disk to going back in time to when WMP11 was working but to no avail.
It appears all we can hope for is that someone from microsoft will read of
our plight from this site and develop something new to help us!!!!!!!!!!!
