Try restoring the default associations for Windows Mail in in Control Panel

left, and then click on "Choose defaults for this program", on the right.
Put a checkmark next to all the file types. Then click on Save.

What happens when you create an attachment in Windows Mail, by clicking on
the Attach button, when composing an email? Just to see if that works...

RE: Sending pictures from the picture file and windows photo gallery.

Shana,
I have the same problem. I'm writing from Italy. I have called the local
Microsoft Support but they tell me that since my computer is a Dell I should
ask the Dell support. That is possible only by phone and paying a substantial
charge, which I'm trying to avoid.
Have you tried to contact the Microsoft Support in your country?

RE: Sending pictures from the picture file and windows photo galle

Open www.microsoft.com/worldwide. There you can select your area and country,
and look for "Contact Microsoft Support". There should be also a phone number
to call.
If you are successfull please let me have the solution to our problem.
Ares.

RE: Sending pictures from the picture file and windows photo gallery.

Shana,
Eureka! It seems that I have found the solution.
Open (write) a new message - Attach a picture as it is, e.g. 2 MB -
Couble-click the name of the picture in the attachmet slot of the e-mail, to
open it - With the picture open, click "e-mail" and "attach" - Close the
picture: you are back to your e-mail. You will see that the size of the
picture has been shrinked.
Please let me know if it works with you.
