Vista - WMP 11 won't open in Vista

After about 6 months of use on my Dell with Vista factory installed, WMP 11
won't even open. Not at all. Other audio files play on Real Player but I
really miss WMP.


Any suggestions? Use small words.

I have the same problem. Was working just fine and then the other day i tried to use it and it just wont open at all.

Right click on the Taskbar, select Task Manager. Click the Processes tab.
Click the "Show processes from all users" button. Approve UAC. Scroll down to
find wmplayer.exe. If found, highlight wmplayer.exe and press the "End
Process" button. Try to open Windows Media Player again.

If this works, it seems like something is loading WMP in the background.

...try uninstalling Real Player. that caused a similar problem in a different thread!

THANKS.the task manager thing works.not a clue what i did but WMP opens again
now.

Tried that earlier but that dose not work niether.

I've heard that the latest Aim update is causing problems with WMP11.

If you have Aim, did you install the update, or was it done
automatically?
