I have scoured everywhere for anyone that has a similar problem and
failed, so this is my last resort - or else it's back to XP
I can load up Windows Photo Gallery fine, I can scroll through the
pictures, but as soon as I try and maximise the window the whole
computer crashes. Hard. No crash report, no event log, nothing. The
monitor switches itself off, the fans in the computer turn up to high
and if there was any sound it now skips like a broken record. My hard
reset button does nothing so I have to press and hold the power button
to get her working again.
So far, so crap, but the same thing happens when I try and view a video
in full-screen in WMP11. Also when Vista (after every re-install I have
done) 'tests my computer's performance'.
The whole situation is particularly odd because this was all actually
running fine a couple of weeks ago, and then it stopped. I have no idea
what changed because now it won't work, even after a complete Boot &
Nuke and reinstall. Could the hardware be failing, or is something else
awry?

AMD Athlon64 3000+
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
2GB Corsair RAM
nVidia GeForce 6800
