Vista - MP3 Player

My kids tried to copy some songs from their computer to MP3 player but it
says it doesnt recognize it. We installed the driver and all the
installations seems to be done with success. What went wrong?
My other question is - how to copy a CD to my computer. It wouldnt let me do
it.
This is a new computer, we didnt have any problems with both issues when we
were using Windows XP.
This is Windows Vista and we're lost..........
