| | Re: "Window Media Player has stopped working" with trying to play mpeg That's a completely unique crash that there's no data for. What MPEG filters are present according to WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information menu tool? According to the basic data, this is the video mixer querying for an interface on a third party filter (tragically, "unknown" in the dumps I saw) that blows up Real Good. If you loaded the Windows Debugging SDK on your machine and debugged this, it'd probably take five minutes to fix, but sadly that's a huge task for most people. The MPEG filters list from WMP may also be really illuminative. Also, it wouldn't hurt to check for an updated driver from your video card vendor. But that's just good SOP. =\ -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. | | Re: "Window Media Player has stopped working" with trying to play Thanks for the reply, zachd. Just a few follow-up questions: You asked "What MPEG filters are present according to WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information menu tool?" I can't answer this because I can't find this chain of menu commands. Also, I take it that debugging isn't for the faint of heart - I really don't know programming so I assume that it would all look like giberish to me This is just frustrating... I have beensearching the 'net for some time and can't even find someone with a similar problem. MPEGs load in movie maker, but can't play in WMP. There are a myriad of problems that people have, but not this. Thanks anyway. |

| | Re: "Window Media Player has stopped working" with trying to play Press CTRL+M to show the player's menus. Then follow my steps. That will present a nice text list I'd love to see. You would just copy and paste that, and maybe that would provide helpful data. -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
