| | Transitions not working Vista Ultimate 32-bit/Intel Quad/4GB RAM/nVidia 8600 GTS Movie Maker - transitions The transitions added between clips in Movie Maker - even a simple fade - are not going smoothly from one clip to another. For instance, if fade is applied, instead of going smoothly from one clip to the next, it is jumping between clips for the duration of the transition. The exact same clips processed on an XP machine are working properly - all transitions are smooth. Thanks, George |

| | Re: Transitions not working Adam, Thank you very much for looking into this. The transitions don't work no matter what duration I select - default, longer or shorter. To further compound the problem I discovered the transitions work well when using the sample videos from Vista, or between the Vista samples and my clips but never between my clips. BTW, my clips are DV-AVI captured from Canon Optura XI. As I mentioned before, if I transfer the very same clips to another machine which runs XP the transitions work fine. One thing that I noticed is that the XP Media Player reports correctly the clip properties : video size 720x480, aspect ratio 4:3. Vista Media Player however, reports video size 640x480, aspect ratio unknown. It makes me think the DV Video Decoder in Vista is not quite OK. Any further ideas are more than welcome. Thanks, George BTW: I have the most recent drivers for everything and the most recent updates on both machines. |

| | Re: Transitions not working George I came onto the discussion group to find a solution to the same problem. I have just updated my laptop. My previous laptop was also running Vista and MovieMaker worked fine. That laptop used an ATI Radeon card. I have had to upgrade simply becvause my old laptop "died" on me. My new laptop - a Dell Inspiron 1520 running Vista Home Premium with 2Gb RAM and all drivers up-to-date - has got a nVidia GeForce 8600M GT card. The screen is running at 1440x900. The clips run "choppy" - though not always - and they seem to run better when you preview a single clip than when you run a sequence via the storyboard/timeline. Like you, however, the transitions are the main problem and as you move through a transition you get it cutting back and forth between the two clips and the transition with the sound doing the same. I too wondered if it was the codec. Or is it the driver - though not sure why that would affect the sound too unless it is a combination of the codec with the driver. I thought if I shared it might help. Anyone out there got similar problems or ideas for a solution? | | RE: Transitions not working Having the same issue here. Using a Lenovo T61p with Vista and NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M and could use some help.
