#2 Automatically connect to wireless on bootup

To Barb, I followed your advice and here is the new thread with my problem of
automatically connecting wireless on boot-up. As I mentioned in the previous
thread, I borrowed another notebook which happened to have XP. It booted up
and found the wireless connection right off and worked beautifully. I did it
a couple of times and each time with success.

You asked for the results of the ipconfig/all before I format the HD. Here
it is:

I am getting my original disks of programs together but I won't be able to
do the formatting and reinstall for a couple of days - other things get in
the way! We have a long weekend this weekend, so Monday may be the best time.

If I should do anything else before formatting, please let me know. Thank
you so much for your direction.

Re: #2 Automatically connect to wireless on bootup

OK. I still think that given the malware issue and the uncertain
state of your computer, it is time to format.

Re: #2 Automatically connect to wireless on bootup

To Barb, it's taken this long but I called Toshiba (computer is under
warranty) and took it into an authorized place here in Vancouver. They found
that the wireless card was faulty. Hope to get it back tomorrow.

I still want to format the hard drive as I feel I may have caused some
problems with Vista OS during my trying to solve the problem. Have cleared
all the data and app. progrmas. Have the recovery disks so hopefully it will
go OK. I tried earlier to format but Vista wouldn't let me. Will give it
another try on the weekend. Is there a "secret" to formatting with Vista?

Thanks again for all your earlier help.

Re: #2 Automatically connect to wireless on bootup

typically you boot from the recovery disk and it should ask you if
you want to reinstall your apps or install clean. do you get a
choice? what do you see?
