| | ANOTHER vista - xp sharing problem There's so many out there, none help. Great job making it easy. Anyway, I'm adding XP onto my Vista network, or at least trying. I've been getting slowly yet surely closer... Right now, I can see Vista from XP, and I can see XP on the Network Map on Vista. I just cannot access the folders that I have setup to be shared [ right click, share ] I'm really lost right now because I've read so much on this topic. I don't know if this has anything t do with it, but, I also cannot connect to the internet on XP...It's connected at 100Mbps, but nothing works [ messenger programs, internet browsers, etc... ] Bah, I'm not sure what to do, can anyone help me finalize this file sharing problem...? |

| | Re: ANOTHER vista - xp sharing problem If you can see each other but access, it could be the permission issue. Make sure you assign permission in the Security tab. Or this search result may help. Vista Permission IssuesCan I assume the external drive used to be connecting to other computer and you just re-connect it the the Vista? Check the permission using this command: . ... www.chicagotech.net/vista/vistapermission.htm -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "mike.obrien716" <mike.obrien716@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:88C00428-D4FC-4AFA-AFBD-3AD69D283FD8@xxxxxx Quote: > There's so many out there, none help.
