| | sharing public folder Hi, My colleagues and myself are using Window Vista. We want to use the existing public folder in our laptop to share files among us. We share the same workgroup name and we have enabled network discovery, file sharing, public folder sharing. But somehow it didn't work. My colleagues still cannot access the file i put in my public folder. Kindly help. Thanks heaps. |

| | Re: sharing public folder can't ping each other by IP. Can i clarify where i did correctly. I go to command prompt, type ipconfig and my IP address is under IPv4 Address. Is that right? After determining my IP address, i go to my colleague's laptop and type "ping 192.168.1.66", no response at all. Any thoughts? "Robert L. (MS-MVP)" wrote: Quote: > Do a simple test. | | Re: sharing public folder By design, you should be able to ping if you have enabled file and printer sharing. On the sharing computer type this command: net share and post the result back. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "Tiffany" <Tiffany@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:05CCC4D6-6EBD-49CE-855D-1BF039371988@xxxxxx Quote: > can't ping each other by IP. > > Can i clarify where i did correctly.
