Internet Intermittently stops working

I have this intermittent fault on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit machine. I have a
Linksys Wireless USB adapter with Speedbooster.

About once per day, with seemingly no trigger, my network connection will
stop working. To be more precise, the network still registers as connected
but i can access no network traffic, either internet or router settings.

This can only be corrected by a system restart.

I have tried
-different networks
-reinstalling the adapter
-changing the USB port
-disabling and reenabling the adapter
-using the network troubleshoot deely to reset the connection

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Chris

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

You may want to reset power management. Or this post may help.

Networking stops working dailyQ: Networking on my Vista computer stops
working on a daily basis (DNS, VPN, accessing local files on an XP machine).
Also, if I put the computer in sleep ...

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

Cheers for the quick response.

My power settings were on performance and the wireless adapter setting was
set to maximum performance. USB wasnt set to sleep either.

I don't think that resetting the power options will fix the problem but i
reset it regardless.

Any other ideas.

cheers

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

when it is in the not working condition, open an elevated command
prompt and run

ipconfig /all

save the TEXT to a txt file. reboot and then post that file as a
reply here.

also, what router? model and hardware version? does it have the
latest firmware?

Try to reset using "netsh winsock reset" command. Or check this article:

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

I'm having the exact same issue. Any attempts to rectify (such as using the
"Diagnose and Repair" command) will cause the network dialogs to hang, and
unable to even reboot successfully afterward. I have to manually turn off
the power and reboot.

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

same adapter and same router? your issue sounds very different with
the "unable to reboot successfully afterward". Please start a new
thread and post all the details of your issue, and include all the
details about your NIC, router, and system.

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

No, it is the same issue. It says it's still connected, but loses all
connectivity. Only a full reboot, just like Chris, will resove it. I am,
however, on an Intel ProWireless internal wifi card in my laptop.

Re: Internet Intermittently stops working

Please get the latest driver from the Intel site. If you still have
an issue, please start a NEW thread. Post the complete info on your
router, make, model, hardware revision. Check for a firmware update
as well. It is NOT the same issue.
