| | Network hangs every 60 seconds - a plea to Microsoft for a fix There is a problem with Wireless Zero Configuration (or its equivalent in Vista) which results in wireless network throughput hanging for a few 100s of mSec every 60 seconds. It is believed to be caused by the periodic scan for new networks. The same problem existed in XP, but it was possible to disable WZC in XP; it does not seem to be possible to disable the "feature" in Vista though. This is a big problem for online gamers. I personally am finding it a problem as it causes Remote Desktop and file server connections to time out. The problem is quite widely acknowledged and referenced on the web, even on MS's own site e.g. http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...WINHEC2004.ppt (see pg 9 of the PPT file) http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/677463.html http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Wirel...s-t101910.html This is causing me a real headache, and many others as well I think. Will MS produce a resolution to this please? Pretty please? ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. | | RE: Network hangs every 60 seconds - a plea to Microsoft for a fix Thank you Vagrant. I've been searching for a clear description and a solution to this problem for the last 6 months. Vista Anti-lag works for me. Not sure why it works for some and not others. Windows definately is completely negligent on this.
