Cant connect to wireless internet

I can connect to my wireless network at home but I can't access wifi in
public places. It shows local connectivity only and I can't access the
internet. At one venue with an open network I could access the internet OK
but now it is local only.

Someone suggested uncheck IPv6 in Connection properties - could it be this
simple? If not what do I do?

It could be the compatible issue. If disabling IPv6 doesn't fix the problem,
check if there is a new drive for the NIC. Or this link may help,

disable the IPv6, re-configure the ...

Re: Cant connect to wireless internet

I have had wireless "local only" problems with no internet. I changed to
McAfee from Norton and Windows Vista fixed the problem. In my case the
setting went from Public to Private, and I was on the net. Vista doesn't seem
to trust public connections.

Re: Cant connect to wireless internet

i upgraded my laptop to Vista in june or so, and could wirelessly connect to
the internet with no problem until about 2 months ago, and since then, all i
get is a "local only" connection to my network. however, even when i plugged
my dsl straight from the modem into my laptop, i still cannot access the
internet, though it says i am connected. i have tried everything i could
think of, includeing another wireless adapter and plugging directly in to the
router, and would have already reinstalled the operating system except i lost
the sticker with my product key on it. if you could help me out or know a
way to recover my product key so i can try a fresh install, it would be
apreciated.
