| | Cannot access/run EXE files on network drives. I have an issue with EXE extensions on network drives. These are the errors I get: When I right click a zip file with an EXE file, a popup appears that says: This page has an unspecified potential security risk. Would you like to continue? I click on "Yes" and when I click on extract all and specify a directory, I get this popup: An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem: Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error Or if I try to double-click an exe in the zip file: Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created. When I try to run exe files on the network, it tells me the publisher can't be verified and I click "Run" to allow it. Then I get this popup: * has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. The issue might be with windows putting internet privileages over the network. Ozzy |

Right click on the winzip application and select Run as administrator. Can you run the program? This link is another case. How to un-register/register dll ...If you recieve "*.dll failed return code was: 0x80004005", make you logon as administrators. | | Re: Cannot access/run EXE files on network drives. Thank you for the reply. WinZip is a program that is not installed on this computer. It is using the built in zip program that comes with Vista. This computer/OS has only one user account and is also the administrator account. The issue is not with ZIPs or DLLs, but with EXEs. When I download a file (either an EXE or a ZIP file with an EXE), Vista has a built in manager called Attachment Manager that saves the Web content zone (only for NTFS and not for FAT32). So whereever the file is stored, Vista denies me from running the file since it reads the Web content zone from the file itself. There is a way of adjusting the Attachment Manager (via gpedit.msc), but that only works for Business and Ultimate editions. Is there any other way of managing the policies?
