Re: The Active Directory Domain Service is currently unavailable

I am trying to implement the fix mentioned above (adding a printer - in my case a wireless Brother MFC-6490CW), but I get the following error message:
The printer installation failed. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000643).

Any ideas?

Re: The Active Directory Domain Service is currently unavailable

I just bought a Vista PC,
Ok for all of you that are having problems connecting your computers to
wireless printers, I have a solution for you.

In your start-up bar, on the left hand side look for Network....

Network > Network and Sharing Center > look under Sharing and Dicovery

>go to Printer Sharing and turn it from OFF to ON, press apply and
following it through.

Hope this helps.

And what has connecting to a wireless printer got to do with the subject of
this thread which is about Active Directory?

vista ultimate 32bit

Re: The Active Directory Domain Service is currently unavailable

I ran into this this evening. I Have a Brother Laser Printer 2070 attached to a XP Pro sp 3 machine that acts as my all around server for the house. I attempted to print to the brother with my toshiba laptop which is running vista 32 ultimate. I had no problem when i first installed the printer which was approx 3 weeks ago. However tonite i gat the error in question. I accessed the printer share through the network from the lapptop. I had made sure that all applicable file and print sharing was turned on. I also dbl checked the sharing of the printer itself on the XP machine. when i saw the icon representing the shared printer on the laptops screen i dbl clicked and was offered the chance to install drivers. I did and the problem is now gone in fact the printer shows up as being default in the appropriate places. I hope this helps someone. I am sure there are many variations out there in ther way things are connected
