| | Printer sharing on XP computer from Vista I have updated the XP desktop that has the printer with LLTD protocol as suggested elsewhere in this discussion forum. I'm using the same Workgroup name at both machines. In Vista, I have - Network Discovery: ON Network type set to Private Media sharing:ON File Sharing: ON Public Folder Sharing: ON Password Protected: OFF I have also created same user ID and pwd at both the machines. The XP computer does not show up in my Vista network unless I ask for a full network display. I have established the printer on the Vista machine so it knows about the desktop printer. However when I print nothing happens. The items simply stay in the print spool. Also when I go to network from "my computer" it doesnt show the desktop. Any advice? |

| | RE: Printer sharing on XP computer from Vista I was having the same problem and I have found a solution listed in another forum. The solution is to load the Shared Printer from XP as a local printer in Vista. I tried it and it works. The forum including instructions is located at: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6035_102...232132&start=0 "kaybee" wrote: Quote: > I have updated the XP desktop that has the printer with LLTD protocol as > suggested elsewhere in this discussion forum. > I'm using the same Workgroup name at both machines. > In Vista, I have - > Network Discovery: ON > Network type set to Private > Media sharing:ON > File Sharing: ON > Public Folder Sharing: ON > Password Protected: OFF > > I have also created same user ID and pwd at both the machines.
