| | Index files on Network Drives for Searching Is there a way to index files on network drives/folders for faster searching? My Documents folder is on a network drive (always available via Offline files), and I can't even search it without going into Advanced Search and checking Include non-indexed... files. That doesn't seem right, especially since it's stored locally via Offline Files. Am I doing something wrong? If no, is there a way to get it to index certain critical network or offline folders? Thanks, Colin |

| | Re: Index files on Network Drives for Searching I think I found an answer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en That both let me index offline files accessed as Mapped network drives and any other UNC (network folder location) to which I have access. Having said that, at least so far, it doesn't appear to actually work for searches. They still turn up no results unless I go into Advanced Search and tell it to search non-indexed files (same as before). Perhaps the indexing hasn't finished. I'll give it some time and try to report back later. - Colin "Colin" <colin@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OWB$cfiSIHA.1164@xxxxxx Quote: > Is there a way to index files on network drives/folders for faster > searching? | | Re: Index files on Network Drives for Searching It took about several hours of indexing (about 6), but eventually it seemed to work as expected. Hope this helps others. - Colin "Colin" <colin@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:2752DB35-61BB-4FFC-8869-0CBED6F1E66D@xxxxxx Quote: >I think I found an answer: > > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en > > That both let me index offline files accessed as Mapped network drives and > any other UNC (network folder location) to which I have access. > > Having said that, at least so far, it doesn't appear to actually work for > searches.
