Internet problem

Recently, my older laptop crashed and I could not access the Internet. Being
as I am a college student, I cannot function without network capability. I
bought my new computer, which has Vista (and I'm not familiar with it). So I
got it home and tried to install my SBC Yahoo wireless internet. The network
is fine but the USB adapter device can't be recognized. I went on the device
support page and installed the driver information and it still won't work.
Am I the only one out there with this problem?

Re: Internet problem

You should setup the connection not only the net. adapter

Re: Internet problem

Please explain what you mean by "setup the connection." As far as I know, I
already did that.

Re: Internet problem

If you see the adapter in Device Manager then you should take the next step
to configure connection.
As you described you can't see the device. This problem is due to an IRQ
conflict (check Run msinfo32/ Hardware Resources/Conflict/Sharing) witch
should be very strange for Vista (because is a PnP OS). You should check in
BIOS if USB ports are enabled.
Let me know if that helped ...

Try this: remove the adapter, wait a minute, then replug it. You might
have to do this several times until Vista wakes up and recognizes that a
new device is plugged. Vista has significant problems with its USB port
management (and SP1-RC is no help). Once it is identified, install the
driver at that point, since Vista will probably have failed to realize
the driver has been previously installed.

Re: Internet problem

I have tried your suggestion with no luck yet, but I will keep trying. If I
am unsuccessful tomorrow, I will get back to you again.
