Windows cannot find any networks

I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit on a Windows 2003 domain that has several
servers and a few client machines. While I can connect to computers on the
network, share files, connect to the Internet, etc. Vista does not recognize
that it is on a domain network, other than the fact that it allows me to use
my domain login/password to log in.

The network icon in the system tray says Not Connected and when I click on
connect to a network, it says it cannot find any. A laptop on the same
network does not have this problem. Also, this same machine used to run
Vista Ultimate 64bit and did not have this problem either. I've tried just
about every fix I can think of, research, etc. to no avail.

Since most things work, it is not a terrible problem, however, one area
where this is a big problem is media sharing. When I try to enable media
sharing in WMP 11, I am unable to and a message read "Sharing is disabled
because a network connection was not found. Check your network connection or
settings."

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?
