| | Re: Connected to network but not internet Could you try this: Pull the power plug out of the router, hold it in your hand for 60 seconds and put it back. It will reset the router. It is a simple, simple, simple thing we all too often forget. I recently lost my Internet connection and called Comcast and a guy walked me thru for 15 min, himself acting like an idiot, pinging the modem, resetting something, downloading software and finally he asked me if there was a button on the modem to reset it. I looked at the modem and saw no button. At that very moment it dawned on me that I had done it at least a hundred times before. I said: let me just power it off, he said: OK. I did it and lo and behold the home page was back, my IP phone started working. "bobola" <bobola.333c12@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:bobola.333c12@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net... Now my network says my network name instead of "Unidentified Network" However, it still is not connecting to internet, it have a red cross in the picture . I also went to my friend's house to test the internet and it work. So it must be a problem with my router! | | Re: Connected to network but not internet I do not think it is a problem with your router. I am having the same problem too. I decided to turn off the security function of the router and make it an unsecure network and it worked fine. Then when I establish a secure network I get the same red x to the internet you are getting. So if anyone else out there has a solution for wireless conections for VISTA using LINKSYS Router (WRT300N) it would be apreciated. | x64 | Re: Connected to network but not internet Hello. Thanks for the reply. I reset my router and configure it to without security function, but it still does not connect to internet. I also check D-link site to update, does not help either. Could it be my router? Too old? Got like 2 years ago. I currently use a D-Link Dl-524 Revision E 802.11g / 2.4 GHz Thank you Bobo Maybe the linksys has a driver for Vista. Now since they've been bought by Cisco, perhaps they are more responsive. | | Re: Connected to network but not internet This probably would be my last hunch. What else could it be? I am trying to remember my personal experience with D-Link, Linksys and Netgear routers. I do not do wireless anymore for security reasons. It is my vague recollection that D-Link was the worst although I cannot be that certain. I recently bought Belkin 5-Port USB PCI card. Against all expectations it fit into the machine, installed itself and now I have my all USB ports available first time in so many years. I don' know but perhaps you could just borrow another router from a friend. Some people have excess of them since they are so cheep and try it. | | RE: Connected to network but not internet It all depends on which type of (ISP) you are using. All of the Internets are upgrading their own product to be compatible with Vista. Contact your internet provider and let them know that you are now running Vista. Or if you need internet access quickly, use Windows Live Messenger or Windows email. You can create a hotmail account swiftly & easily. I needed to download the latest version of AOL Vista Ready , or AOL VR, to get my AOL back. And, I still have my hotmail acoount. -- Thanks to all, Tonio Geavanti "bobola" wrote: Quote: > > Hello, > I been reading the other threads about those who is having this problem > too. > I tried to fix it with their suggestions, but none seems to work. > I just got my HP Pavilion dv2068ca yesterday. > I tried to connect through to internet. > It was able to connects to my network, but not able to connect to the > internet. > It also says my network is "Unidentified Network" > It gave me options to diagnose and repair, however it did not help. > > My laptop connect through 802.11 b/g WLAN > My wireless router is a D-LINK 802,11g 2.4GHZ > > If someone can help me, please reply! > Also if anyone need more info about my connection in order to help with > this problem, > please ask! > Thank you > Bobo. > > > -- > bobola > |

| x64 | Re: Connected to network but not internet Hello Hmmm, I do not think it has to do with my ISP. Because I am useing the same ISP and same router to connect to the internet with my XP desktop via wireless. I have no idea why my vista laptop cannot connect to it. Could it be the router or vista itself?! =/ If it does not work soon, I guess I have to refund the laptop ! Thank you too all !! Bobo It all depends on which type of (ISP) you are using.
