Some programs do not allow internet access or connection

-- Have Vista Business. Cannot get downloads from certain sites, cannot get
access to some sites, cannot launch Skype or Gtalk, cannot download license
from netlibrary to listen to books, cannot launch McAfee Security Center Get
varying error messages of cannot connect/download--check your internet
connection. Home network without proxy and XP machines on same work fine.
I have tried all the suggestions I can find such as shutting off Windows
firewall, allow popups, iE7 options in LAN connections to allow automatic
detection or not allow, etc.
Internet access is otherwise fine for everything, get email fine.
Any suggestions, as I am sure it is some kind of connection problem. For
instance, I can download Gtalk and sign up, but cannot get a connection with
Gtalk and get an error1 message. With McAfee Security Center, I finally got
the download, but cannot get it to install and get a message "Download
Manager is unable to access the Internet. Connecto the internet" but
obviously I am connected.

Re: Some programs do not allow internet access or connection

It could be the router issue. Have you checked if there is a new firmware
for the router? Or this link may help too.

Vista Internet Access IssuesVista: Can't access some secure web sites ...
don’t fix the problem, ... Vista: can't view web site by name ... upgraded 2
