| Guest | ICS XP Host to Vista Client issues I am working on a SOHO with an XP sp2 machine running ICS and a Verizon broadband USB connection to the Internet which I want to share with others. All computers are connecting to each other via a Linksys Wireless router though we really only need it to be an access point. The only way I could get my Vista Home machine to use the shared internet successfully was to set a manual static IP on the NIC IP stack on the Vista box in the range of my XP ICS 192.168.0.X including gateway and DNS IP from the XP. Also had to disable DHCP and wireless broadcast on the Linksys box I guess because the XP ICS box takes care of that. I could not get it to work by autodetecting on the Vista machine? Anyone know why? This Vista Home machine is a laptop that moves around. Setting a permanent stack may confuse it when trying to access other networks wirelessly. |
