"Security network key incorrect".....but it's not

I am having some serious problems connecting to my wireless router.

I have wpa-personal security and I bring my laptop from my work to home. The
problem is everytime I bring it home it takes AT LEAST 20 times to connect to
my wireless router. Everytime it comes back "your security key is incorrect",
    but it is NOT.

I am also not mistaking my network for another.

However if I boot up the laptop and let it sit by itself for about 30
minutes, it will just connect fine.

I have 2 other laptops that connect fine to the router with no problems.

    Device info
    Router: SMC Draft 11n Wireless 4-port SMCWBR14-N

Wireless card: Broadcom 802.11n (driver version 4.82.28.56)

I am thinking that Vista is sending the network key in a different version
or something that makes my router hesitate???

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

I als know this isn't only happening to me. This came from my google search.
    Exactly the same thing.

Re: "Security network key incorrect".....but it's not

    I have tried wpa-personal, wpa2-personal, wpa-enterprise, and
wpa2-enterprise. It seems not to matter I still get the network key incorrect
multiple times before it will finally accept it.

I totally forgot about the log! This is what I get over and over

[INFO] Mon Nov 19 23:31:54 2007 Wireless system with MAC address
    001E52829XXX associated
[INFO] Mon Nov 19 23:31:33 2007 Wireless system with MAC address
001E52829XXX disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.

    The it finally says

[INFO] Mon Nov 19 23:31:59 2007 Lease 192.168.2.186 renewed by client
    001E52829XXX
[INFO] Mon Nov 19 23:31:59 2007 Assigned new lease 192.168.2.186 to client

Re: "Security network key incorrect".....but it's not

first, don't use enterprise modes. only personal. I'd recommend
wpa2-personal. set up the router that way. I don't know what
settings the router offers but make sure it is set for b/g/n mixed
    mode.

next, unbind IPv6 from the wireless NIC.

Thanks for the info. I will try this when I get home tonight.
Also I use WPA2 personal anyway I just tried all the others to see if it
    would make a difference.

No Luck. Disabling IPv6 does nothing. It still took about 10-15 tries to
connect. I keep getting that "received deauthentication" notice on the log
    whatever that means....

    Anything else I could try???

Re: "Security network key incorrect".....but it's not

I'd make sure you have the latest firmware for the router, and then
reset to factory defaults. Change the channel from the default and
specify a new SSID. Use WPA2 and be sure to broadcast the SSID.

    Does this make a difference?

According to the SMC web site this is only a draft 1.0 N router.
there could be a compatibility issue between the router and the
    Broadcom wireless radio.

does this laptop connect to other wireless networks without
    difficulty?

Re: "Security network key incorrect".....but it's not

I reset and same problem. It also connects fine with my wireless network at
    work.

The main frustration is that if I leave it alone after I boot up for about
a half an hour it will be connected fine. Apparently it just needs about that
    long to figure it out.

    So frustrating...
