Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

I am running Vista Home Premium.

Striker extreme Mobo
Q6600
Linksys wrt54gs router
Connected with ethernet cable

I was online yesterday all day. I put my rig to sleep last night. It
powered off during the night. I turn it on this afternoon. No internet
access.

Every other XP machine is online fine, wireless and wired.

I have tried just about every fix I have seen:

Disable DHCP Flags
no firewalls
blah, blah, blah.
Restarted router, modem, car, dog, etc.

What can I do or try?

A list would be nice. A chatting support option would be nice. A little
instant messenger like device with a tech on the other end.

I will take what I can get.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

Have you check if there is a new firmware for the router or driver for NIC?
Or this link may help.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

I have tried the solutions from the link you posted with no resolution.
I updated firmware to no avail.

Any other suggestions?

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

I have also:
dumped the dns cache.
Did something with winsock.
released ipconfig
renewed ipconfig

hooked direct to modem with no internet connected to it to see if it would
at least recognize my modem.

system restored to yesterday.

rolled back my nic driver and then updated it again.

turned off IPv6. back on.
set static IP, DNS, not auto
disabled and re-enabled my ethernet ports.
turned off and then back on my DHCP conn flag something or other in my
registry.

I am seriously researching this and trying everything. I am even obviously
reaching far beyond my normal comfortzone with computers.

Give me more to try.
Or please send me XP pro until vista SP1 is out or this is fixed. lol.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

Here is what I have tried:

Released and renewed ipconfig
dumped dns cache
something with winsock
changed values of DHCP conn flag to 0, then back to 1 when it didn't work.
set static ip, dns
disabled and enabled ethernet ports
updated firmware on router.
rolled back driver of NIC, then updated it again.
system restored a day back
hooked up modem direct with no router
hooked up modem with out internet connection to see if it would recognize
modem.
ping modem, ping router
rebooted 37 times

I need more things to try.

And/Or. a copy of XP pro to use until what I paid for will work.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

Thank you for your request. I would, however, like to add a caviat. It
definately put a bad taste in my mouth to have to run that, copy it, open
notepad, save it, plug in a flash drive, transfer it, safely eject the drive,
put the drive in another computer running xp, open the file, copy the file,
then paste the file here for some one to view. It is rather humorous, and
aggrivating at the same time.

I surely hope that someone can help me with this.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

169.254.62.111 is the problem meaning the computer doesn't receive an IP
from the DHCP. You may try to remove the IPv6 completely. This how to may
help.

Re: Unidentified Network / Access: Local Only

I re-read my previous posts. I neglected to say that I had disabled IPv6, it
did not fix the issue. In the interest of doing whatever it takes, I
disabled and removed the tunnel again.

"Unidentified Network"

Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate the troubleshooting.

What next?
