Slow file list to show when I'm on XP looking at Vista Home Premium machine

It takes many seconds to get a file list from a shared directory on Vista
Home Premium. When I look the other way around you can't tell that the
networked drive is not on the local disk. Why is there a delay each time I
want to move around a directory? It seems like forever when your waiting for
the list to renew/refresh?

Thanks for any help, Rich
