Vista to Windows 2000 printer sharing

I have Vista and want to communicate with printer connected directly to a
computer running Windows 2000 on the network. Is there a file I need to
download for the Windows 2000 cpu so I can see it like Windows XP has, Link
Layer Topology Discovery? What do I do, any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Re: Vista to Windows 2000 printer sharing

Make sure a vista driver for the printer is available. Win2k can not provide drivers for vista afaik. You may need to logon to the win2k computer with vista before you can connect to the printer. In my experience my vista box doesn't like to connect to my dad's xp box to print unless I connect to a folder share first. Guest account is enabled on the xp box but my dad's machine makes my vista box authenticate. Once I authenticate by double clicking on a folder share and entering my username and password instead of using the guest account I can connect and print. You need to be able to connect to folder sharing before being able to print.
