Lost internet on wireless LAN from friend's wireless router.

I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8226x desktop. My girlfriend has a
clearwire wireless modem to connect to the internet on her HP Pavilion
Slimline. She set up her Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (Model WRT54G)
802.11g so that I could pick up internet on my desktop. She had me run the
Linsys Setup Wizard CD (ver. 8.0) and I attached the antenna that came with
my computer to the Wireless LAN card connector in the back. I had internet
and everything was fine for about a week. Then, the other day, the internet
suddenly stopped on my desktop. She still has hers but mine is gone. I used
Windows Vista and HP programs on my computer extensively to try to fix the
issue. Here's what I've found:

1. In the "Windows Netword Diagnostics" window I get a message that says "A
cable is not plugged into the network adapter "Local Area Connection" Plug a
cable into the network adapter "Local Area Connection". ** The antenna is
securely connected. Apart from that, I'm lost.
2. When I try to "connect to a network" I get the message "Windows cannot
find any networks."
3. In the "Network Sharing Center", when I clicked on "View Full Map" I
received the message "The Adapter is not connected."
4. In the "Network and Internet window, under "Network Connections" I see:
LAN or High-Speed Internet (1) Local Area Connection, Network Cable
Unplugged, Nvidia nForce Networking Controller
5. The Detailed Device Information shows "false" next to "Adapter Connected"
6. The driver is present. It is version 6.2.0.126,6-21-2006
7. I just bought this computer two weeks ago from Circuit City. It was a
display model. They restored the factory settings before selling it to me.
I have been messing around with the various diagnostice tools for 2 days
now. I also went onto my girlfriend's computer to see if hers had blocked
mine for some reason but that doesn't seem to be the case. She's out of town
until later tonight and she will probably wave her magic wand and make it all
better, but then again, maybe she'll be stumped too. I'm at my wit's end
here. Could someone please help? Thanks.

Brian

Do you have wireless signal? If not, make sure the wireless switch is turned
on or this search result may help.

Re: Lost internet on wireless LAN from friend's wireless router.

I'm having the exact same problem, my computer has never had a network
problem before. Today, it simply quit working. I get the same errors. I
can't figure out what "cable" it's talking about plugging in.

My wireless switch is on the "On" position, but the red light is still
on. (I have the Pavilion dv9205) For some reason, no matter how much I
switch back and forth, it stays red. Could it be a problem with the
switch itself? Or did I fry my network card? =(
