Throughout the entire company, I am redirecting user's documents folder (along with a lot of other common folders) to DFS storage areas... for example, everyone's documents folder is redirected
\\DFSdomain\shares\userfiles\%username%\documents
I have 3 users with the same problem, but all other users are fine. The user can copy items to their documents folder, can save files to their documents folder, can move new items to their documents folder. But when I try to specifially to right-click->new->anything. It appears that it will work, allows me to type in the new folder/file name, but when I hit enter or click outside the namebox. It tells me the
DFSdomain\shares\userfiles\%username%\documents folder does not exist and asks me if I want to create it. But the folder/file DOES get created, but it does not accept my renaming... (leaving the Folder named 'New Folder' and for example new text files named 'New Text Document.txt'.
I can then edit the file, make changes, and save the changes. I can even go so far as to edit the file and resave it with a new name. I just cannot rename the original file.
But if I log into a windows 2003 terminal server it will allow me to create/rename items in the same folder.
It also does not matter if I use the 'documents' link or if I browse to the folder by DFS or by it's original URL.
The user is the folder's owner and by CREATOR rights has full control of the folders, but I have even re-added the user with specific FULL CONTROL rights. And if I specifically remove the 'create' permissions to the folder, I get the normal 'you do not have permission' error.
I have tried taking ownership of the directory, returning ownership to the user. I have tried with inherited permissions and without. I have also tried deleting the user's folder and letting it re-create.
I am at a loss, help.
