Wireless connectivity

Hi

I need to connect a Sony VAIO VGN-TZ150N notebook via a Wireless
network. The Wireless network is enabled with Obtain IP address
automatically & Obtain DNS server address automatically.

But internet is not working. FireFox shows -Looking up domain.com...-
The computer name shows up in network list of another PC - but on
double-clicking on it, it says that its not accessible. Network path is
not found.

What do I have to do to get it working ?

Thanks

Re: Wireless connectivity

Can you ping a public IP like 4.2.2.1? If yes, can you ping a web site like
chicagotech.net? Or this link may help.

RE: Wireless connectivity

common problem with sony vaio. after 10 months, countless hours of support
from
Microsoft at no charge, assistance from Brighthouse, my isp , and net gear ,
my brand of wireless router ."g" with encrytion authentication and password.
i hardwired. but it is trashed. sony support consist of delay until warranty
expires.
i purchased 3 year extended coverage. sony cancelled it after 3 weeks.
my sony is also fond of the "i'm on your home net work but i am actually
connected to another network" trick.
also, they have a vulnerability to online attacks and hi jacking.
also, sony is required to provide you free of charge with restoratation
disks. if you did not receive them, request(read - demand) you are going need
it. i have purchased 13 desktops and notebooks since 2000(triplets now in
university) only the sony has had problems, my gateway desktop - from 2000 -
has never had a problem. recently installed another memory module and it is
fast and dependable. my sony has been a problem since it came out of the box.
i am curious if you have vista installed.
