Installing BELKIN WIRELESS G ROUTER

I have a cable internet connection that works perfectly when directly
connected to my laptop. But when I connect the cable-modem to the router and
the router to my computer, there's no way I can connect to the internet or
even connect to the router by typing "http://192.168.2.1"
The computer doesn't seem to recognize the router at all (when connected via
an etherrnet cable) and all I get is a limited connectivity sign in the
network icon that says "Identifying". I don't get wireless signal either.
According to Belkin's webpage, this router model (F5D7230-4) is compatible
with Vista (Home Premium) and should be directly plugged in.
I must say that I ran the installation CD that came with the router (not
compatible with Vista) instead of first plugging in the router. Obviously, it
did not work.
I have no idea what to do, PLEASE help me out with this....ideas, comments,
anything!
Thanks!!

If assign static IP adders, can you ping the router? Or these search results

Re: Installing BELKIN WIRELESS G ROUTER

Gonzalo,

Contact the Router manufacturer and get the MAC Address cloned on the router. ISP through Cable use this MAC Address cloned. Visit the Below URL for information :

Belkin : Support : Setting up ProLog ISP with the router

As you have mentioned that you are unable log into the Router Page. You may try the following

Reset the Router.
Clear the Temporary Files of The web browser
Disable the Firewall ( This is the main culprit generally )

Disconnect the cable from the Modem to the router. Connect only the Router to the computer. If your modem has the similar Gateway then you will have this issue.

Did you manage to make it work?
I am finding trouble still...and I have followed all the instructions - but am getting mixed messages as to whether or not the router is Vista compatible or not...
...and have concluded myself that it is not!

I have been using the Belkin Wireless G Router for over a year now with XP, Linux and Vista. It WILL work just fine with it. It doesn't care what is connected... what is important is the Network protocols used.....

First - Reset the Router - refer to your instructions that came with it to reset.

Next - Reinstall the Belkin CD that came with the Router and follow the instructions (it is compatible with Vista). If thisn't doesn't work... try installing it using the Compatible Choices (the properties of the setup icon).
