I am trying to get Vista 64 SP1 to connect to a Webdav share using https it
works on Vista 32 and XP without any problem.

I have tried installing the Web Folder patch at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/t...displayLang=en a couple times
I have tried changing the Network Security LAN Manager authentication level
to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session Security if negotiated" in the local
security policy no good I still get the following "The folder you entered
does not appear to be valid. Please choose another. " Any help would great
this has been driving me crazy thanks

I am having the same issue: using Vista x64 Ultimate to connect to a
Windows Home Server WebDAV (Web Folders 4 WHS add in). I can connect
through both Firefox and IE8 without any issue. A friend can connect
through Max OSX.

On the Vista machine I can (sometimes) initially set up a conection
through Map Network Drive>Add Network Location. This will work for a
while, but then it will stop, usually after a reboot. When I try to
access it again I get the message

"The folder you entered does not appear valid. Please choose another."
The same happens when I delete and attempt to recreate the server.

If I try to map the WebDAV through the command prompt by

net use * https://<server>/<folder>

I get error 1219: Multiple connection to the server or a shared resource
by the same user are not allowed.

As far as I am aware, I am disconnected from the server.

What is going on? Is this a bug only in Vista 64? I have installed the
web folders update (KB907306) (although it does not actually appear in
my Installed Updates, is this a Vista x86-only patch and it fails to
complain?) and I have even found the hotfix KB960758 and installed that.
Nothing seems to have helped.

I see this problem has appeared a few times over the last couple of
years: any solutions?

Thanks!

It seems that I have managed to get a little more idea of how to cure this.

If you go to a command prompt and type "net use" then you will get a list
of various mapped network devices, in particular the WebDEV server. Mine
appears as

\\<server>@SSL\<folder>

you can then type

net use \\<server>@SSL\<folder> /d

which will disconnect it. At this point it is possible to add the WebDAV
folders again in the Add Network Location folders.

When you reboot, you will have to do this again, but at least it is some
kind of fix,..

To be more specific: you need to remove the connection as explained above,
delete the link to the webdav repository in My computer and then re-add it
using add Network Locations.

What seems to be happening is that on reboot the location at which the
connection is pointing at seems to move from

\\<server>@SSL\<folder>

to

\\<server>@SSL\DavWWWRoot

which does not exist.

Is anyone else seeing anything like this?

I think I've just noticed what is going on on Vista x64:

I add a WebDAV server network location, say

https://<server>/<folder>

In command prompt, net use tells me that I have a mapping

\\<server>@SSL\<folder>

Then, after rebooting, the mapping is broken, you start getting the
"Folder invalid". If you now go to the command prompt and fo "net use"
again you will find that the mapping has *changed* to

\\<server>@SSL\DavWWWRoot

which does not exist.

You can fix this by doing

net use \\<server>@SSL\DavWWWRoot /d

then deleting the mapped folder in My Computer and then adding it back
through Add Network Locations.

What could be changing this?
