| | Cant connect to network using PPPoE Hi all, I connect to the internet using a broadband ADSL line which requires username and password. The type of connection is PPPoE. Windows Vista RC1 correctly recognises that I'm using PPPoE and displays the dialogue box for entering the username and password. But it fails to connect. The error message is of no particular help - it just says "Could not connect". The status shows that the connection from my machine to the ADSL modem is active but to the internet is inactive. The configuration worked well on the same machine with Win XP Pro. Could someone please help me in configuring the network? Is there any update or patch from Microsoft for this problem? Thanks, Aamir |

| | Re: Cant connect to network using PPPoE I have a similar but distinct network. I used an XP machine to setup the router modem and then installed Vista Beta2 August on a spare machine and it found the Internet connection and used it without any imvolvement from me. A different scenario to what you are talking about but may provide you with a solution. Then the question is asked - wot du U do if the initial network computer is a new Vista installation. Let us hope that there will be improvements Garry "Aamir" <Aamir@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2C0EF066-C0DD-4D57-85C4-76FDABEEB6E6@microsoft.com... > Hi all, > > I connect to the internet using a broadband ADSL line which requires > username and password.
