Remote desktop, two network ports on computer

I've got a Vista Ultimate 32 bit machine that has two network ports on it.
One is on our local network 10.10.10.154(static ip with a 255.255.255.0
subnet). The other is connected to a hardware controller for some equipment
192.168.1.1(static ip with a 255.255.255.0 subnet) with a cross-over cable.

When I unplug my hardware controllers network cable, I can remote desktop
into the machine just fine. As soon as I plug in the controller, I loose my
remote desktop connection and I can't reconnect.

I can ping the machine, I can view its drive shares, I can remote desktop
from that machine out to other machines just fine. I can do everything, but
remote desktop TO it. I've tried to connect from a Server 2008 64 bit, a XP
Pro 32 bit, a Vista 32 bit. They all say "This computer can't connect to the
remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact
the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator"

The controller has no drivers or anything special installed, so nothing
special is going on when I plug it in except that the status changes from
Network Cable Unplugged to Enabled. I've rearranged the network advanced
settings connections priority. I've disabled IP6, tried using the ip address
rather than the computer name. I've reconfigured and switched the ports in
case there was some hardware issue with port 1 or 2 on the motherboard.

I'm at my witts end as to why I can't remote desktop to this machine as soon
as my second network port becomes active. Its got to be something simple I'm
missing.

Have assigned two default gateways on this computer? Posting the result of
ipconfig /all may help. Or this search result may help too.

The network jack that is going to the controller(Galil) does not have a
gateway set up. It has a static ip address(192.168.1.1) and a
subnet(255.255.255.0) and it connects to the controller which is a static ip
of 192.168.1.2.

I just attempted to put a gateway of 192.168.1.2 in for the galil and as
soon as I plugged in the cable, I lost my remote desktop. As soon as I
unplugged it, remote desktop reconnected.

Here's ipconfig /all
