Vista to access XP share, different domains ??

Shouldn't I be able to access a share on XP machine from Vista, even
though the 2 computers are different domains? They are both on the
same network.

They can ping each other, but when I try to map drive from Vista as
follows: \\10.140.2.2\c$ I get the msg "Windows cannot access \
\10.140.2.2\c$"

The XP machine has C$ shared, when I click Permissions button it says
"This has been shared for administrative purposes. The permissions
cannot be set".

thanks.

Also tried sharing a different folder, to avoid the Administrator mess
of C$.
In this folder I click sharing permissions and it has "Everyone" for
group or user name.
I try to access from Vista like this: \\10.140.2.2\Logs and get same
"windows cannot access" error.

Hi
Vista would not let you share/map the C$, it is a security issue.
Some other Folders on Vista that includes OS related data would Not share
either.
On Windows XP the blocking of C$ can be overridden by adjusting the security
settings.

Ok, forget about C$, now I'm just trying random Log dir. I've shared
it, set permissions to "Everyone" but still no love.
