| | Need help with Windows search, indexing network drive I'm running Vista Home Premium. I've installed the search add-in for network drives, I've added mapped shared folders on my home server as indexed locations, and re-built the index. But, although the network drives are in the list of indexed locations, Windows Search seems to have not indexed these locations, and does not find files stored in them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help! |

| | Re: Need help with Windows search, indexing network drive Hi Network dives are usually not based on Windows and thus are not compatible with NTFS. Many of them are using FAT. Maybe this can Help, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displayLang=en Jack (MS, MVP-Networking) "Art" <anacharb.remove@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:sm3el.6907$Db2.4353@xxxxxx Quote: > I'm running Vista Home Premium. > > I've installed the search add-in for network drives, I've added mapped > shared folders on my home server as indexed locations, and re-built the > index. > > But, although the network drives are in the list of indexed locations, > Windows Search seems to have not indexed these locations, and does not > find files stored in them. > > What am I doing wrong? | | Re: Need help with Windows search, indexing network drive Thanks for the quick reply, Jack. I wasn't clear enough: my home server is the HP MediaSmart Home Server, running Microsoft's home server software. I have already downloaded and installed the add-in you suggested, and have added the shared folders on the server to my index locations. But the files in those folders did not get indexed, and they are not found by Windows search. Am I missing something? (It wouldn't be the first time that happened!)
