Vista DHCP internet connection issue

Having problems connecting Vista PC to internet via ethernet connection.
Connection is via Netgear DG834N router. Using Vista Home Premium with SP1
and router has latest firmware. Able to connect to internet via ethernet on
Win XP laptop and via wireless connection on Vista PC, but receiving IP
169.254.xxx.xxx from router on ethernet connection. Have tried combination
of static IP, but to no avail. Also tried fixes on kb 928233 on IP address
from non-microsoft DHCP servers, but no cure. Have also tried disabling
ipv6. Now not sure what registry settings I should be using. At wits end,
please help.

Re: Vista DHCP internet connection issue

Hi
I assume that the computer in question is the one that its Wireless work OK
with the Router.
If so, make sure that you have a good cable between the computer and the
Router and try to disable temporarily the Wireless card.
See if it works when only the wired connection is On.
