| | IIS in Vista Ultimate - Is it as good as I hope? My old server running Win 2003 fried recently and I can't afford to get new hardware right now. I will be running a PC with Vista Ultimate. I noticed that it has IIS services like FTP and a web server? IS THIS TRUE??? I ***hope*** so. I used to run a simple web server with WinXPPro. Does anyone here have experience with the builtin web services, and it is easy to get set up? I just don't have a lot of time to mess around with it. Either it works, or it doesn't . I just want a simple web server and possibly a FTP server running. Any advice would be appreciated. |

| | Re: IIS in Vista Ultimate - Is it as good as I hope? Hi I do not understand well your question. Windows 2003 is a server OS. IIS is a web server application. So what the relation is in your question. In any case, IIS is a very good Web server and FTP combo application. It is not hard to learn but since it is an elaborate and very capable application it takes time to learn. In order to install it you have to insert the original CD, drill t5o Control Panel Add Remove Programs, choose Windows Component6s add check IIS. | | Re: IIS in Vista Ultimate - Is it as good as I hope? Hi Ooops, I got distracted by your WinXP remark and posted the process for WinXP. For Vista, Drill to Control Panel/Programs and features, on the left click on "Turn Windows features...". Choose what ever you need from the Internet Information Services. | | Re: IIS in Vista Ultimate - Is it as good as I hope? Thank you for your reply. I do know how to install it, I was just hoping someone in here has some working experience with the Vista version. I used the XP version before without trouble. I am wondering if the experience is about the same or is it not worth the effort to install and setup?
